Cosentino partners with Formafantasma to launch EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM

Cosentino introduces EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM, which fuses unconventional and reclaimed materials to create a sustainable surface concept. This concept is officially launched in Asia on 24 June 2024. 

Cosentino, a company renowned for producing sustainable surfaces for architecture and design, developed this product in collaboration with Italian studio Formafantasma.

The EARTHIC® project reinforces Cosentino's long-term commitment in the effort to become a more sustainable company, while minimising the impact of surfaces in the future.

Representing the next generation of mineral hybriq surfaces, Silestone®XM distinguishes colours and collections by having a maximum crystalline silica content of 10%. Thanks to Cosentino’s Hybriq+® technology, this collection is also produced with 100% renewable electrical energy and 99% recycled water.

EARTHIC® is a capsule collection that offers a new concept design, with an advanced composition of up to 30% recycled materials including: recycled glass, PET, bio-resin and Dekton® fragments.

In terms of sustainability, recycled discarded Dekton® fragments are used, and the extraction of new raw materials is avoided.

Additionally, when manufacturing the surfaces, post-consumer bio-resin (between 16% and 23%) derived from vegetable oil and recycled cooking oil is used, as well as plastic bottles, which are transformed into distinctive scales that reveal their unique characteristics on the surface.

EARTHIC® offers two colour series:

EARTHIC / FFROM X FORMAFANTASMA: These colours reflect the material's origin and sourcing as well as the process of transforming recycled materials into something new.

FFROM 01 is a gray surface speckled with white recycled PET fragments creating a subtle yet intricate pattern as well as adds depth to its composition. FFROM 02 features a darker tone of gray elegantly punctuated with white accents, creating a visually attractive contrast. This shade of gray lends a sense of modernity and minimalism. And FFROM 03 showcases an elegant and anthracite background with recycled PET scales scattered across the surface - resembling the night sky or a geological specimen.

EARTHIC / RAW X COSENTINO STUDIO: This series showcase patterns and colours that capture the material essence in its most authentic state.

RAW A is a colour endowed with a soft dark veined pattern over a white background that reveals an intricate design evoking a sense of natural elegance, reminiscent of refined stones found in nature. Meanwhile, RAW G presents a serene and natural concrete canvas with subtle copper touches intertwined with nebulous veins that add a sense of fluidity. And RAW D offers a dark natural rock backdrop provides a mood of tranquility and solid elegance. Diffused streaks of bronze weaves through a charcoal landscape.
