Lighting has long shaped moods, defined spaces, and brought architectural visions to life. Occhio’s Luna series takes this to heart, treating light as a sculptural element for different settings and functionalities.
Designed by Axel Meise, who draws inspiration from the ethereal qualities of the moon, the design utilises the revolutionary Occhio ‘fireball’ LED light source for a dreamy, floating effect that exudes a sensual and mysterious air, like a heavenly body floating in the clouds. Materials play a crucial role in this visual effect: metal seems to dissolve into glass, while high-gloss dark chrome and phantom finishes add depth and drama.
What really lets the series shine is its adaptability. The collection spans suspended, ceiling, wall, and table luminaires, each capable of shaping an environment’s atmosphere through cutting-edge technology such as gesture control and app-based adjustments. With the ability to fine-tune brightness and colour temperature, from a warm, ambient glow to a crisp, cool white, Luna evokes very different lighting moods. On its own, it makes for a bold statement piece, but its elegant yet playful aesthetics work well as a group too, with different sizes allowing for some creative mix and match.
The Luna Sospeso suspended luminaires, for example, come in three sizes and can be arranged as a cloud solution of three or five luminaires over round and long tables. Meanwhile the Luna sogno is designed with its light source at the centre of a mirrored glass sphere that gently reflects the light back. Other models in the Luna family include Luna parete (wall luminaire), Luna scura, Luna piena (ceiling luminaire), and Luna basso (table light). The synthesis of classical shapes, new stylish finishes, surprising lighting effects and state-of-the-art technology is unmatched.
