Designed by rising architect Nieto Sobejano, who won an architectural competition initiated by the city of Munich, the Hotel Koenigshof — part of Marriott International's Luxury Collection — captures the timeless sophistication and cosmopolitan attitude of Munich with a fresh, contemporary design that beautifully embodies the city's history and culture.
Embracing a concept of “serenity”, Nieto Sobejano Architects and Landau + Kindelbacher pay tribute to the building's heritage while reinterpreting luxury in a modern fashion. Throughout the interiors, art plays a key role. The Koenigshof's aim is seamlessly to combine Bavaria's rich tradition of collecting with the city's continuing passion for fine art.
Rooms & Suites: Oases of Calm Amid the Pulse of the City
The design of the 106 rooms, curated by Munich-based studio Landau + Kindelbacher, conveys a feeling of privacy and exclusivity. Warm contrasts meet a sophisticated blend of modern furniture, curated works of art and elegant textiles. Each room radiates the warm, cosmopolitan personality so characteristic of the Munich way of life. The room is complete with a personal welcome card with illustrations by Munich designer Alexandra von Frankenberg, a fragrance created especially for the Koenigshof, and exclusive Koenigshof tea.
Bathrooms: A Refined Interplay With AXOR
A minimalist design comprising simple, rectilinear forms and timeless stone surfaces creates a sense of tranquility and balance in each of the Koenighof’s bathrooms. To complement this atmosphere, the interior designers opted for a tasteful selection of AXOR products: a one-lever AXOR One faucet at the washbasin and an AXOR One thermostat module and AXOR Starck 1jet hand shower at the bath. Wall-mounted and finished in Brushed Black Chrome, this arrangement projects a sense of composed elegance while underlining the subtle interplay between the archetypal form of AXOR Starck and the elemental refinement of AXOR One.
Fit For a King: The City’s Largest Presidential Suite
Undoubtedly the Koenigshof’s crown jewel, a 250 sqm presidential suite offers the ultimate in luxury. Equipped with a private sauna, its own pool on the second level and a fabulous view over the city, the suite can confidently lay claim to the title of Munich’s largest hotel accommodation. In addition to the private pool and sauna, there’s a private spa that offers an experience shower with high-quality spa products and a private spa lounge.
