The Singapore Archifest 2024, the flagship event of the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA), takes place on 15 to 19 May at Marina Bay Sands, with fringe events scheduled for 18 and 19 May.
The theme of this year’s event, now on its 18th edition, is WHEN IS ENOUGH, ENOUGH? The Performance of Measurement, a reference to the title of the critically acclaimed Singapore Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2023.
Curated by SIA architects Melvin Tan, Adrian Lai, and Wong Ker How, Archifest 2024 aims to reinforce Singapore’s position as a regional architecture and design hub by providing architects with an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and share best practices.
This year, the event undergoes a revamp to incorporate various SIA initiatives, including the SIA Architectural Design Awards Presentation & Dinner, SIA Young Architects Forum, and Professional Knowledge Series. Also included in the line-up of activities is Architectural Specifier Market (ASM), which will be renamed ASM Expo. Another highlight is the exhibition of the Singapore Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2023.
An important event for architects and allied professionals, Archifest also has a programme for the general public, such as the exhibitions and the Archifest 2024 Architour.
Speaking before the media, SIA President Melvin Tan said, "Singapore Archifest has been the landmark architecture event for SIA for the past 17 years. In 2024, SIA will bring a new integrated format that leverages our collective resources and expertise to deliver an unparalleled experience for architects, professionals, and enthusiasts.
“In addition to celebrating our rich architectural heritage, we're expanding our horizons, fostering global connections and positioning Singapore as a hub for architectural excellence."
