Multi-functional, worry-free, hygiene, wellness – these are some words used to describe what the American Standard Design Award (ASDA) 2022 is looking for.
Organised by one of the most iconic brands in sanitary ware, the competition is targeted at tertiary design students in Year 2 and above from eight countries across Asia Pacific; namely Australia, Cambodia, India, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
They are encouraged to send in their entries for one or both the award categories of Residential Bathroom Space Design and Hospitality Bathroom Space Design.
These should have attractive aesthetics seamlessly blended with functionality, including consideration towards, comfort, convenience and better health and hygiene standards.
It dovetails with the theme for ASDA 2022: Purposeful Design – Transforming the Way We Live.
At the same time, it also seeks to amplify the user-centric design philosophy that guides American Standard in delivering bathroom solutions that combine thoughtful designs and innovative technologies.
"We aim to build the ASDA as a platform for the next generation of designers to showcase their creativity and innovation by developing purposeful solutions," says Antoine Besseyre Des Horts, Leader, LIXIL Global Design, Asia.
"In the process, they also get mentored by renowned industry experts. We are also open to expanding the platform to professionals in the future.
"This competition seeks to promote the user-centric design philosophy, as seen from the theme that guides the American Standard brand in delivering dependable bathroom solutions that combine thoughtful designs and innovative technologies."
Entries will be assessed at a national and then regional level.

The Hospitality Bathroom Space Design is for rooms in a boutique hotel or resort and has to consider their shared nature and its impact on guests.
