White textured paint was selected instead for the walls for value engineering purposes and light oak-coloured, timber- finished aluminium for the screens for maintenance reasons. Thin-framed anthracite windows complement the pure cuboidal forms. “The simple and contemporary use of materials further helps craft a timeless solution that responds to its location, climate and use typology and adds value to our built environment,” he says. Additionally, keeping to this pared down palette of finishes allowed the owners to build a high-end home with a budget that was approximately 65 percent of prevailing market costs. 04-05.
